# Rate limits

> How many requests a key can make.

Each key can make **60 requests per minute** unless your AMM Distro representative has set a different limit for it.

Every response includes the current state:

| Header | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `RateLimit-Limit` | Requests allowed per minute. |
| `RateLimit-Remaining` | Requests left in the current minute. |
| `RateLimit-Reset` | Seconds until the count resets. |

Past the limit, requests get `429 rate_limited` with a `Retry-After` header in seconds. Wait that long, then retry.

## Staying within the limit

* Send each release once, then check it with `GET`. Don't re-send it to see whether files are ready.
* Use `GET /delivery/transfers/{transferId}` to see a whole transfer in one request.
* Use the list endpoint with `status` to find releases that changed, rather than reading each one.
* Give each system its own key, so a busy system can't use up another's limit.
