# File requirements

> What artwork and audio files must be.

## Artwork

| Shape | Square (width equal to height) |
| Size | At least 1400×1400 pixels; 3000×3000 recommended |
| File size | Up to 50 MB |

Artwork is stored and delivered as a 3000×3000 JPEG. Stores also reject artwork with website addresses, social handles, store logos, prices or blurry and pixelated images, so check covers before sending them.

## Audio

| Format | WAV (uncompressed PCM) or FLAC |
| Bit depth | 16-bit or 24-bit |
| Sample rate | 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz |
| Channels | Mono or stereo |
| Length | At least 1 second |
| File size | Up to 2 GB |

MP3, AAC and other compressed formats are refused. Send the final master, with no silence added before or after the track.

## When a file is refused

The file's status becomes `failed` and its `error` says exactly what's wrong, for example:

* *The audio file is 32-bit; use 16- or 24-bit*
* *The artwork file is 3000×2000; artwork must be square*
* *The audio file does not match the sha256 you sent; the file may be incomplete*
* *The artwork file URL returned HTTP 403*

Send the release again with a corrected file.
