# Transfer checklist

> What to gather and in what order, for a smooth catalog move.

## Before you start

* [ ] API access is on for your account and you have a **Send releases** key.
* [ ] An export of your catalog from your previous distributor, with every release's **UPC** and every track's **ISRC**.
* [ ] The **original release date** of each release.
* [ ] Each artist's **Spotify** and **Apple Music** profile IDs, and legal names.
* [ ] Songwriter names (legal first and last), shares, and IPI numbers where you have them.
* [ ] Performer and production credits for every track.
* [ ] The original masters (WAV or FLAC) and artwork (square, at least 1400×1400), on a host we accept.

## Order of work

1. **Send one release first.** Send it, wait for its files, and validate it. Fix anything your export gets wrong before sending the rest.
2. **Send the rest under one transfer ID.** Keep each release's ID the same as in your system, so you can re-send corrections.
3. **Validate every release.** Use `GET /delivery/transfers/{transferId}` to list them and `POST …/validate` on each.
4. **Submit the transfer.** Nothing is submitted until every release is ready.
5. **Wait for `live`.** Follow each release's status (see [Release status](/guides/release-status.md)). Store links appear as stores go live.
6. **Then take down at your previous distributor.** Only after the releases are live here, so they're never missing from stores.

## Things that commonly go wrong

| Problem | What to do |
| - | - |
| A track's ISRC is missing from the export | Ask your previous distributor; don't create a new one, or stores will see a new recording. |
| A release went to a new, empty artist profile | Send the artist's store profile IDs, and contact your AMM Distro representative. |
| `upc_in_use` or `isrc_in_use` | The code is on another account on AMM Distro. Contact your representative. |
| Artwork smaller than 1400×1400 | Get the original artwork; small images are refused. |
